Insurance from MIAB
The Medical Insurance Advisory Bureau Ltd (MIAB) is the UK’s pre-eminent Medical Insurance specialist, offering bespoke insurance policies to Dentists, GPs, Opticians and Vets.
Our insurance policies, many exclusive to MIAB, are designed specifically for the Medical Market and are underwritten by a unique panel of blue-chip insurers and Lloyds of London Syndicates.
The DBG has arranged substantial discounts with MIAB, offering members considerable savings on their standard rates on a range of its products.
Increased discounts are offered if a member takes out more than one insurance policy, and multiples may insure all their outlets under one policy and benefit from further savings.
Dental Surgery Insurance
With MIAB’s Dental Surgery Insurance Policy we recognize that not every practice fits a generic policy template and that an insurance policy should be adapted and shaped to meet your needs and not the needs of the majority.
Consequently, our policy allows you to select your own cover limits, meaning that you don’t pay extra for cover your practice may not need.
The key features and benefits of MIAB’s Dental Insurance include;
- Equipment breakdown, including pressure vessels
- Jury service cover
- Accountancy fees
- Computer breakdown cover
- Engineering cover
- Key person cover
- Legal expenses protection
- Business interruption cover
- Personal accident cover
- Employee and public liability insurance

Dental Practice Expenses Insurance
Our dental practice expenses insurance policies are underwritten on absence and not medical history, so pre-existing conditions are usually covered.
When accident or sickness strikes, the effect on a practice ranges from inconvenient to devastating. MIAB’s dental practice expenses insurance policies pay the sum insured for as long as the insured person remains unable to work (up to a maximum of 52 weeks).
Dental practice expenses insurance pays for the cost of employing someone in their place. Alternatively, the benefit payable may be used to offset overtime by other staff members who fill in.
Similar to locum insurance, a practice expenses policy may include in the benefit amount the appropriate portion of the practices fixed overhead for which the absent partner is responsible. Depending on the size and type of practice (private or NHS with a UDA commitment), a practice’s requirement will vary.
No locum receipts are necessary for the majority of claims and our premiums do not increase with age.
We offer continuation of cover. This means that neither MIAB nor the insurer will cancel the policy nor restrict your cover because of any claim(s) made under the policy or because of a variation in the health of any insured person.
The key features and benefits MIAB’s Dental practice expenses insurance include:
- Benefit policy
