Health and Safety Package
The DBG have, in conjunction with leading Health and Safety consultants, developed a dental specific health and safety package which will allow a dental practice to achieve compliance in a simple and cost effective manner.
On 16th October 2008 the Health and Safety (Offences)
Act 2008 received Royal Assent.
Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Chair Judith Hackitt
said "The new Act sends out an important message to those
who flout the law.”
The new Act will come into force in January 2009 and will
give magistrates the power to imprison individuals convicted
of most health and safety offences for up to
12 months and Crown Court judges the
power to imprison individuals for up to
2 years.
The maximum fine available
to magistrates for breaches of health
and safety regulations will increase
from £5,000 to £20,000.
The package is broken down into nine easy to manage modules. Each module covers the legal requirements on each subject. The modules are based on the "Keep It Simple" philosophy and in the majority of cases just require you to customise ocuments for your practice.
