Health & Safety Risk Assessment
Did you know...
All employers and self-employed people have to assess
risks at work.
Who says so... Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
and the Management of Health Safety at Work
regulations 1999 (risk assessment) plus it is also
part of clinical governance laid down by the GDC.
Do you know how to and have you done a risk assessment
of your dental practice assessing
the hazards and the risks?
The hazard is anything that may cause somebody harm
such
as, dental materials, dental
equipment like a
compressor,
clinical waste, repetitive movements and
even an open drawer.
The risk is the chance, high or low, that somebody could be
harmed by these together with
an indication of how serious
the harm could be.
The DBG can do a risk assessment of your practice
using their in-depth knowledge
and experience of
dental practices gained over the last 20 years.
We will:
- Identify the hazards
- Decide who might be harmed and how
- Evaluate the risks and decide on precautions
- Record the findings.
You can then:
- Implement the changes and review
the assessment and update when necessary.
If you require further information or would
like to arrange an assessment
of your
practice contact the DBG on 0845 00 66 112
The DBG assessors are NEBOSH trained therefore they
are
up to date with current legislation. When the DBG
assessor
visits your practice they will require complete
access to all rooms.
The duration of the visit will depend
on the size of
your
practice. A practice with two surgeries,
waiting room, storeroom/compressor room, kitchen and
toilets should
take
2 hours. The DBG charges DBG
members a minimum
of two hours at £100 plus VAT per
hour. Please telephone
us for a quote for your practice.
Errors and omissions excluded. The DBG reserves the right to alter
or withdraw any of their services at any time without prior notice.
