IRR99 REGULATIONS?

You should be aware there are certain requirements under
the Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999, IRR99 and Ionising
Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000,
IR(ME)R2000, your Practice should now have in place.

The IRR99 regulations handles the protection of employees from ionising radiation at work whilst IR(ME)R2000 is designed to help reduce the doses to patients from medical exposure. The DBG Radiation Protection Service is designed to cover the key requirements listed below:

  • Radiation Protection Advisor – IRR’99 require the Practice to appoint a suitable RPA.
  • Medical Physics Expert – IR(ME)R2000 require the Practice to consult an MPE.
  • Routine Assessment of your X-Ray equipment.*
  • Routine Servicing of your X-Ray equipment.*
  • Radiation Protection File – A comprehensive file designed to guide the Practice through the requirements of IRR99 and IR(ME)R2000.
  • Quality Assurance programme.
  • Helpline – Access to experts when you need them.

The DBG charges £210 plus VAT for DBG members (£410 plus VAT for non members) per Practice for the 3-year DBG Radiation Protection Service.
